Why Choose Dubai?

There are many great reasons to live in Dubai, from its vibrant history to its balmy climate.

Dubai has an interesting history to explore, starting out life as a small fishing village in the 18th century. It began to grow due to high revenue generated from oil and trade, forming part of the United Arab Emirates in 1972. The geography of the city is very unique, with Dubai Creek running through the middle of the city dividing it into two distinct neighbourhoods. On one side is Old Dubai, where a lot of historic buildings and architecture still stand. On the other side is New Dubai, filled with modern architecture and skyscrapers reaching high into the sky.

If you want guaranteed warm weather all year round, Dubai is a great choice. The summer usually begins in April and lasts until October. In this period rainfall is extremely rare and temperatures reach an average of around 40 degrees Celsius in the height of summer. Due to its proximity to the sea, there are occasional dust storms and high humidity.

The winter months are actually more ideal for being outside, with average temperatures of around 22 degrees Celsius. Dubai is usually warmer in Central Dubai and colder on the outskirts, so that should be taken into consideration when looking at property.

In terms of cost of living, Dubai works out cheaper than other major countries, working out 38% cheaper than the United Kingdom or 25% cheaper than the United States. A meal in an inexpensive restaurant will cost around AED 35, which is about €8.50 while shopping is on average 80% cheaper. You’ll also find yourself paying much less for transport, childcare and entertainment.
